To say that this has been a season of up’s and down’s for my family would be an understatement. The past five months have literally felt like five years. From steeping down as the Sr. Pastor at a church filled with people who I genuinely love; to moving into a one bed room apartment; in a city that is void of a healthy church, and a bunch of other details in between that I will spare you with for now; Let’s just say that God has again reminded me of His promise and power to keep his people secure in Him no matter the circumstance.
In spite of all the major changes that have taken place in my family’s life one thing is for certain; God has not changed. The same God who was faithful to provide his strength for me when I was a Pastor and worked an additional full-time job on the side; is the same God who is here with us in New York to comfort my family and I through the unsettled and uncertain present.
Our living arrangement has changed; but God hasn’t. Our closest friends are hundreds of miles away; but God has been a friend to us that sticks closer than a brother (Proverbs 18:24). Our souls feel famished from a lack of biblical fellowship and our confidence in finding a healthy Church that desires to honor scripture more than man-made traditions is fading; but God’s promise to His people will never change.
Jesus’ last words to His disciples in the gospel of Matthew still rings true for every follow of Christ today-“I am with you alway; even until the end of the world. Amen.” (Matthew 28:20)
There is no way that I could have ever predicted the events that God has allowed us to go through over the past five months, and because of that I am not going to pretend for a moment that I can anticipate what he is going to do in the up-coming months or years to come, but the one thing I know for certain is that no matter how challenging the future maybe God will remain the same-The unchanging God, who loves His people through difficultly, in order to make them more like Christ, for His glory, and our good.
