Fat to Thin Collage

Let me be as clear as I can possibly can be. Diets do not work, and neither will yours. That being said, you may lose some weight as a result of your New Years Resolution, but that does not mean your diet worked. Let me explain, for most people, going on a diet means restricting themselves from certain bad foods (not all bad foods because you must have a cheat day; Right?). Restrain for a period of time to lose said amount of weight. Once you lose the weight you set out to lose, in time, the odds of you gaining all that weight back and more are great; which will in turn lead you to go on another diet in the future, continually keeping you in the “diet cycle mentality” for the rest of your life.

The problem with the “diet cycle mentality”, besides you being flung up and down like a yo-yo; is that you never really change your way of thinking when it comes to food. Rather than completely cutting off all the bad food which contribute not one ounce of nutritional value to your body, and permanently replacing those bad foods with good food that your body desperately craves; the diet cycle mentality plays with fire but never solves the real problem.

The only way your “diet” is going to work in 2017 is if you get to the point where you say, “enough is enough; I am tired of living this way!.” Take it from me, I was in bondage to the diet cycle mentality for years, losing a little weight here and there throughout the years, but never really getting to the place where the weight I did loose actually stayed off for good. But now, by God’s grace I am done with playing games with the diet cycle mentally. I am finally at the place where my mind has been changed, and instead of playing the fence I am totally committed to changing the way I think about food.
I am no longer committed to a quit fix diet; rather, I have changed the way I think about food, and the good news is, so can you. With the help of God and the right resources in your hands, as well as a supportive few by your side you can and will change the way you think about food as well; and in turn your 2017 Resolution to lose weight won’t be a quick fix but a life long transformation.

Maybe you’re at the point where you’re tired of being tired when it comes to the diet cycle mentally, and for the first time in your life you’re ready to change the way you think about food but the only problem is you don’t know where to start. Let me give you two simple suggestions that I am sure will move you in the right direction of your new life.

  • First, ask the Lord for help. Yes, it’s true that you are going to have to make the choice to stay away from certain unhealthy foods as you move forward in the healthy eating lifestyle; nonetheless, the truth remains that “without me (Christ) you can do nothing.” Pray that the Lord would keep you; and educate you; and rescue you in times of intense testing, and by faith keep keeping on in this journey of life change.
  • Secondly, you need to educate yourself. You can pray 24 hours a day but if you don’t educate yourself on what a healthy eating lifestyle looks like then you will never change. By faith, you need to read, ask questions, study, and put yourself around people who are going to encourage your lifestyle changes.

With that being said, I want to recommend a book that the Lord has used in my life to help me see my need for a change and has pointed me in the right direction moving forward. This book is, “Breaking the Stronghold of Food.” By Michael L. Brown. Do yourself, as well as your friends, family, and body a favor and commit yourself to reading this book. I believe the Lord will use this book as a tool to bring about permanent change in your life and when he does I pray that you will use your story to inspire others to do the same.

P.S. When the Lord changes your life can you please share your story with me? All the best. Grace and Peace.
